ANDERSON, S.C. -- Juan Jose Alvarez (Santiago, Chile) of the men's soccer team and
Mia Elder (Leland, N.C.) of the women's soccer team have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 22.
Alvarez scored two goals in two games to help the No. 4 Trojans stay unbeaten. He score the tying goal in the 85th minute to tie North Georgia on the road 2-2 and put away the third goal for the Trojans in their 3-1 win over Tusculum at home.
Elder led the Trojans to a 2-0 week with 26 kills and five blocks. The sophomore came up with 14 kills on a .321 clip in the Trojans' home opener 3-1 win over Converse and added 12 on the road at Coker in a 3-0 sweep. She averaged 3.71 kills/set and a .267 hitting percentage.
