Trojans Sweep Mars Hill For Fourth Straight Win

MARS HILL, N.C. -- The Trojans earned their fourth-straight win on Tuesday night on the road at Mars Hill (5-4, 2-2 SAC) to close out September with a sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-16). Anderson moves to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference with the win.

"Really feels good to close out the month with a road win," head coach Todd Hay said. "Our overall play was very steady and focused. We only had nine unforced errors for the match. That is an amazing stat for us and one we need to strive for in every match. Really proud of the team and the work they put in the last two practices leading up to tonight. We look forward to seeing everyone on Homecoming eve this Friday."

The Trojans dominated every statline over the Lions, with 43 kills, 66 digs and tying their season-high of nine aces. On the flip side, Mars Hill had 32 kills, 59 digs and two aces.

Sophomore Mia Elder (Leland, N.C.) led the offense with 13 kills and just two errors for a career-high .550 hitting percentage. She added two blocks.

Junior Ava Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) had 11 kills on a season-high .296 hitting percentage with one block.

Freshman Mikaylah Hedlund (Fountain Inn, S.C.) had eight kills while junior Emily Campbell (Statesville, N.C.) added seven with three blocks.

Junior Ellie Nieporte (Boca Raton, Fla.) dished out 32 assists with nine digs, two blocks and three aces.

Freshman Jamie Juhnevicz (Taylors, S.C.) had 20 digs and six assists.

The Trojans are back home this Friday, Oct. 3rd when they host Carson-Newman at 7 p.m.
