ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University's Athletic Department and men's soccer head coach, Michael Zion, announced the upcoming 2024 schedule on Tuesday.
Losing only three and picking up nine, with four transfers and five freshmen, the Trojan squad enters the 2024 season with a firm foundation.
"We really have a strong core of the team returning with a lot of experienced players," said Zion. "We also have some exciting additions we feel will really strengthen the team."
Following three exhibition games (including two Division I road match-ups at Wofford and at Presbyterian), the Trojans kickoff the regular season at home on Sept. 5 against Barry, with AU looking to repeat last year's upset over the then-nationally-ranked No. 3 Buccaneers in Florida. The Black and Gold will also host Converse, Montevallo and North Georgia for non-conference games throughout the season.
To open SAC play, Anderson will travel to Emory & Henry on Sept. 14, before hosting Mars Hill for the conference home-opener on Sept. 21. This season, AU will welcome SAC foes Mars Hill, Catawba, Limestone, Coker, Carson-Newman and Newberry to Spero-Financial Field, while facing conference opponents Emory & Henry, Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate and Lincoln Memorial on the road.
"Once again, we have a very exciting and challenging schedule this fall. The SAC continues to get stronger each year, so I am expecting another season that's fiercely competitive across the league."
Slated with ten home games and only five matches on the road, the Trojans look to take advantage of their strong returning core of players, amid a full schedule and highly competitive South Atlantic Conference.
"The schedule features a large number of home games, which we are excited about. We are hoping to create a great atmosphere that's fun and exciting for our fans. We look forward to getting the season underway soon and can't wait to be back on the field."
