ANDERSON, S.C.--The Trojans (8-1-4) suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to Lincoln Memorial (6-7-1) on Senior Night.
Despite the match being moved from Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium to Anderson's upper athletic field last minute due to technical difficulties, the Trojans celebrated their ten seniors in a pregame ceremony and came to the pitch ready to continue their season's success.
The opening 45 minutes was fairly even, as both sides split possession. The Trojans tallied three shots in the half, while Lincoln Memorial recorded six. The game was scoreless going into the break.
The back-and-forth continued in the second half, but it was LMU who capitalized on an offensive opportunity, taking the lead in the 65th minute. In the remaining 25 minutes, the momentum swayed to favor the home team, with AU totaling 17 second-half shots to LMU's four.
Leading the offensive efforts for the Black and Gold were Adrian Castillo (Alboraya, Sapin), who recorded five shots on the night, followed by Jonas Zethofer (Vienna, Austria) with four and Marc Vila (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) and Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela) each with three.
Despite their efforts, the Trojans were unable to find the equalizer. LMU claimed the 1-0 victory.
Anderson now rounds out the regular season with back-to-back road trips, traveling to Carson-Newman on Saturday (Nov. 1) and Newberry next Wednesday (Nov. 5).
