ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team will be looking to make it two wins in a row as they prepare to face Tusculum on Saturday (Oct. 2), after a 1-0 victory over the Queens Royals on Wednesday (Sept. 29) at Spero Financial Field.
A penalty kick from Agustin Ortiz in the 85th minute was enough to propel the Trojans to their fourth victory of the season. Goalkeeper Gal Elyashiv came up big with three saves to earn the clean sheet.
Tusculum will enter Saturday's match with a 1-5-1 record on the season, coming off a close 1-0 loss at Carson-Newman on Wednesday (Sept. 29). The Pioneers are 0-3-1 in SAC play, with losses against Mars Hill and nationally ranked Coker, and a 0-0 draw at Lincoln Memorial.
Ignacio Alconchel will be a player to watch for the Pioneers as he leads the team with five goals on the season, with three of them coming in the 4-2 victory over Lees-McRae on Sept. 7. Goalkeeper Bruno De Freitas is fifth in the SAC with 26 saves. Anderson leads the all-time series versus Tusculum 7-4-1, winning the last two meetings.
