No. 4 Trojans Tie Bears, Remain Unbeaten Through Seven

ANDERSON, S.C.--The No. 4 Trojans (4-0-3) hosted the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (1-4-1) on Wednesday evening for a competitive South Atlantic Conference contest that ended in a 1-1 draw.

A chippy first half saw the Bears test Trojan keeper Franco Antoniolli (Cardoba, Argentina) who tallied four saves from six LR shots (four SOG) in the opening twenty minutes of play. The visitors also earned three corner kicks in that time, though the Anderson defense was able to hold the Bears scoreless going into the half. The five-save game marks the season-best performance for Antoniolli.

In the second half, the Trojans settled in, maintaining more possession and being creative offensively. It was Adrian Castillo (Alboraya, Spain) who cracked the Bear's backline to put the Trojans on the board in the 67th minute.

A quick one-two pass between Jace Hicks (Greenville, S.C.) and Andres Giraldo (Greer, S.C.) opened space for Hicks who took it up Anderson's right side. Hicks then passed it to himself around a Lenoir-Rhyne defender, before sending a service back across the box where a patient Castillo tucked it away. The play marks Hicks' first assist of the season and Castillo's second goal.

Anderson's advantage was short-lived, however, when just seven minutes later, an LR cross into the box found an unmanned Bear who sent one home to level the score back at one. Neither side was able to find a game-winner, and the contest ended with each team taking home a point.

The Trojans now enter a two-game road-stretch, traveling to Catawba on Saturday (Oct. 4) and Mars Hill next Tuesday (Oct. 7).
