Box Score MARS HILL, N.C.--In a rescheduled match following stormy weather last month, the Trojans (6-0-3, 4-0-1) made the trip to Mars Hill (3-2-5, 1-1-3) on Tuesday evening and defeated the Lions by a score of 4-1.
Anderson got on the board first when Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela) lobbed a free kick from just across midfield into the box, connecting with the head of Jonas Zethofer (Vienna, Austria) and into the back of the net. The goal is Zethofer's fourth of the season.
The Lions leveled the score at one just five minutes later, and the game went to halftime at 1-1.
In the second half, Lepervanche added to his stat line, capitalizing on a breakaway to tally a goal of his own. Tonight's game marks his fourth goal and first assist of the season.
The one-goal lead was not enough for the Trojans, who tacked on two more in the final ten minutes of play. Emmanuel Arkoh (Barcelona, Spain) earned a breakaway of his own to net one in the 82nd minute. Santiago Arce (Tucuman, Argentina) was credited with the assist.
With two minutes left to play, a long ball from Trojan keeper Franco Antoniolli (Cardoba, Argentina) reached Leone Corzani (Forli, Italy) who flicked it on to an attacking Julian Caro (Medellin, Colombia). Caro ran onto the loose ball and slipped it past the Mars Hill goalie, boosting Anderson's lead to three. The Trojans won 4-1.
The Trojans return to home turf this Saturday, hosting Wingate at 7:30 PM.
