ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team is preparing to take on the Queens (N.C.) Royals in the third game of a five-match homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 29) at 7:30 PM.

Anderson enters Wednesday's match with a 3-2-1 record, coming off a 4-1 loss over the weekend to Lenoir-Rhyne. In the first game of the homestand, the Trojans defeated Francis Marion 3-1 thanks to goals from Santiago Arce Alvarez, Agustin Ortiz, and Harry Ward.

Before the season, Queens was voted to finish sixth in the SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, with forward Felipe Mendonca named to first team, and midfielder David Alvarez named to the second team. In an abbreviated 2021 spring season, the Royals finished with a 2-5 overall record and a 2-4 clip in the SAC, including a 2-1 win and a 1-0 loss to the Trojans.

Queens will also enter Wednesday's match with a 3-2-1 record, coming off a 2-0 victory on Saturday (Sept. 25) against Mars Hill. The Royals other two wins came against Clayton State (Sept. 7) in a 4-3 double overtime victory, and a 3-1 win over Newberry on Sept. 18.

Felipe Mendonca will be a player to watch as he currently leads the SAC with 9 goals and 20 points this season. He notched a hat trick in the win over Clayton State and scored a pair of goals in each game versus Wingate and Newberry. Goalkeeper Nicolai Anderson is fifth in the SAC with 21 saves and seventh in save percentage (.636%).
