ANDERSON, S.C. - Redshirt sophomore Andre Carle scored twice, including the double-overtime game-winner to propel Anderson University men's soccer over UNC Pembroke 2-1 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Trojan Stadium.

After Sam Miles scored the match's opening goal in the 67th minute for the Braves, the Trojans got their equalizer in the 85th minute when junior Martin Brain chipped in a pass into the UNCP box. There, Carle broke away from a defender to knock in a shot past UNC Pembroke goalkeeper Ryan Hanson.

As the teams were unable to find a game-winner in regulation and the first overtime period, Anderson (9-2-1) was awarded a corner kick in the 109th minute. Brain sent a cross into the opposing box where it was knocked around by both teams, but UNCP was unable to clear. Redshirt freshman Alex Delpy was able to flick a pass to an open Carle, who struck the ball past Hanson once again for AU's golden goal. For Carle, the game-winner was his 10th goal of the season, becoming the first player at Anderson to record double-digit goals since Lasse Sohrweide notched 17 in 2011.

After the shots were even in the opening period, 5-5, the Trojans controlled the shot battle 13-7 for the second half and two overtime periods. Carle paced the team with eight shots, while freshman Brad Du Plooy totaled three shots on the night.

Freshman goalkeeper Bo Haug added his eighth win of the season, recording just one save on the afternoon. The AU backline, led by redshirt sophomore Lars Zimmerman and redshirt freshman Oliver Wright, limited the Braves attackers to just two shots on goal.

With the heartbreaking loss, UNCP suffers a setback after capturing a 3-0 victory over nationally ranked Lander last weekend, as the Braves drop to 6-5 on the year. Miles, the team's leading goal scorer, led the team with six of the Braves' 12 shots on the afternoon.

"I'm very pleased with the way we performed in this hard fought victory," Anderson head coach John Murphy said. "UNC Pembroke is a very good team and they were difficult to break down. We showed a lot of resiliency and maturity tonight, which is something we didn't have at the beginning of the season. To have those traits now is good thing as we head into the final stretch of our season."

With the victory, Anderson is currently on its longest undefeated streak of the season, moving the run to six straight matches, going 5-0-1 in the span. The Trojans will look to continue the winning trend on Saturday, Oct. 19 when its hosts South Atlantic Conference foe Lincoln Memorial. Kickoff against the Railsplitters is set for 3:30 p.m., immediately following the Homecoming presentations.
