ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University men's soccer team has
been rewarded for its recent success on the pitch with a No. 25
national ranking in and are ranked third in the Southeast Region in
the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire Regional Rankings released on
Tuesday.
Anderson (5-2, 2-0 SAC) climbed back into the national poll
after garnering the 17th spot in the preseason rankings and moved
up four spots from seventh in the regional poll just last week.
The Trojans have won three straight and have claimed wins in
five of its last six outings. With their win past Carson-Newman
last Saturday, the Trojans extended their home win streak to 10 and
have won 11 of 12 matches in the friendly confines of Trojan
Stadium.
AU ranks ninth nationally in scoring offense, averaging three
goals per contest and are 13th in the nation in total goals, with
21 on the season.
The Trojans are the lone South Atlantic Conference team in the
national rankings, while fellow SAC member Mars Hill checked in at
No.6 in Tuesday's poll.
Anderson wraps up a four-match homestand by playing host to
Conference Carolinas opponent Lees-McRae on Wednesday. Kick-off is
scheduled for 4 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
