GREENWOOD, S.C.--Anderson Men's Golf made the short trip to Greenwood this week for the Lander Men's Invitational and earned their best team finish of the 2025-26 finish, both on the leaderboard and in stroke score. The Trojans finished 5th of 18 teams in the field, shooting 291-280-290—861(-3) for their first under-par final score total of the year. The 8-under second round comes in at 9th-best for an 18-hole team score in program history.
"Really fun week with the team in Greenwood," said Head Coach Daniel Coker. "First, congrats to Hugh on another Top-15 finish! Really proud of him. We enjoyed playing in the final pairing for the first time this year and putting ourselves in the mix. We ended up falling short due to a few errors, but we will bounce back for next week when we go to Wingate."
Leading the way for the Trojans was freshman Hugh Faulkner (Greenville, S.C.) who recorded his second under-par showing of his collegiate campaign, shooting 4-under for a 14th-place mark of 103 golfers.
Junior Sam McMillan (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) finished even on the tournament and 31st on the board, while Caden Olsommer (Anderson, S.C.) and Can Gürdenli (Istanbul, Turkey) tied for 36th at +2. Olsommer shot a collegiate-best bogey-free second round of –5, for the best 18-hole score by AU at the tournament. Junior James Parsons (London, England) also contributed two counting rounds, carding 72-74 for his final 36 holes.
Anderson will look to build off this momentum next week, when they travel to Wingate's Ralph Hargett Memorial in Monroe, N.C.
