ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University tennis program is excited to announce the hiring of alumna Valentina Borda as the new assistant coach for the men's and women's teams.
"I'm so excited to be back with the team in this new role," Borda said. "Playing here for four years shaped me so much, and now I'm grateful for the opportunity to give back and support the program in a different way."
Borda is a 2025 graduate of the university and is coming off of a successful senior season in which she earned South Atlantic Conference First Team Singles honors and SAC Second Team Doubles honors.
Borda finished the 2025 regular season with an overall record of 14-2-5 and a SAC record of 6-1-5 in singles. Her doubles record with teammate Alexandria Braithwaite was 11-2-4 overall and 8-1-3 in the SAC.
"Super excited to have Valentina join us as my assistant coach," Director of Tennis Joey Eskridge said. "I'm looking forward to her experience as a player, having played one through five singles for us over the course of her career and being one of the winningest players in the history of the women's program. She brings a lot to the program as far as knowing the demands of being an athlete and student as well as how to balance both of those things in order to be successful on the court as well as in the classroom. I am looking forward to watching her grow as a coach and lead the girls and guys on the team."
Borda had success off the court too, being named an ITA Scholar Athlete after her senior season.
The Trojan tennis program opens their fall season on Sept. 13 (women) and Sept. 19 (men) as both teams take on Pfeiffer.
