MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The women's tennis team opened the 2025-26 season with a clean 7-0 sweep over Pfeiffer University Friday afternoon to remain undefeated all-time against the Falcons.
The Trojans got wins on all three courts in the doubles matches.
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) and
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) earned a 6-2 win on the first court. Freshman
Kate Johnson (Isle Of Palms, S.C.) made her collegiate debut with
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) in a 6-1 win. Fellow freshman
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) and
Mara Opre (Atlanta, Ga.) followed suit with a 6-1 win to round out the doubles matches.
Anderson carried the momentum into singles where no one dropped a set. Sompayrac at No.1 and Johnson at No. 5 both kept a clean sheet going 6-0 in both sets.
Collins and Ronconi came up with 6-2, 6-0 wins at second and third position. Opre got the win at the No. 4 position 6-2, 6-2 while Morris closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline.
The Trojans are back in action at the ITA Individual Tournament from Sept. 25-28.
