ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans got a 7-0 sweep over Truett McConnell in their home opener on Wednesday afternoon. Anderson is now 2-0 this fall and 3-0 all-time against the Bears having never dropped a set.
The Trojans went undefeated in doubles to start the day.
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) and
Grace Weaver (Lake City, S.C.) earned a 6-1 win on the first court.
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) had a perfect game on court two 6-0.
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) and
Kate Johnson (Isle of Palms, S.C.) rounded out doubles play with a 6-2 win on court three.
Anderson stepped up in singles play, with all six courts winning in straight sets.
Sompayrac, Ronconi and
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) all came up with clean sheets in both sets at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 spot, respectively.Â
At the second position, Braithwaite came up with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Collins followed her in the third position with 6-1 and 6-2 wins.
Johnson rounded out the top six with a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline.
The Trojans are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they head to Emmanuel University (Ga.) for a 2 p.m. start.
