ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University's Director of Tennis Joey Eskridge has released the fall schedule for the men's and women's tennis programs.
"Excited for the kids to get back and for us to get back to work," Eskridge said. "We are looking forward to competing and playing schools from different levels. It should be good for everyone to develop and hopefully we'll have a good fall of competition."
Eskridge is entering his 18th year with the Trojans and has brought on alumna Valentina Borda as the new assistant coach for the program.
The women open their fall season on Sept. 13 at Pfeiffer while the men begin Sept. 19 at Pfeiffer. The ITA Individual wraps up September for the two teams who will compete there from Sept. 25-28.
October holds four competitions for both sides with their home opener on Oct. 3 when they host Truett McConnell. They head to Emmanuel on Oct. 4 before hosting North Greenville on Oct. 16. The fall slate ends at USC Sumter on Oct. 25.
On the women's side, the Trojans are coming off of a berth in the SAC Championships where they fell to Wingate in the first round. Anderson was 12-8 last spring and 18-8 for the whole year.
The women are returning Second Team All-SAC member Alexandria Braithwaite who finished last season with a singles record of 16-2-2 overall and 10-0-2 in the South Atlantic Conference. She also earned Second Team All-SAC honors for doubles with teammate Valentina Borda.
The Trojans are returning five of their top six from last season in Braithwaite, Ensley Collins, Mara Opre, Elena Ronconi and Gigi Sompayrac. Three newcomers have been added to the roster in Kathleen Borthwick, Maria Johnson and Westlyn Morris.
The men's side is also coming off of a berth in the SAC Championships where they were topped by Wingate in the first round. The Trojans were 8-8 last spring and 14-9 through the whole year.
Junior Mathis Collignon returns as a leader for the Trojans, making Third Team All-SAC last season. Colignon was 8-4 in singles last year and 9-1 in doubles.
The Trojans are returning five of their top six from last season as well with Collignon, Hamp Goldman, Wynn Shioi, Sky Thavornchaisophon and Dandapoojith Reddy.
