TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Anderson women's tennis (5-0) kept their strong fall season going with a 7-0 sweep over the North Greenville Trailblazers (0-3) on Wednesday afternoon at the Vance Tennis Complex.
"The girls played solid today," AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge said. "They did not relent after winning the doubles point. I'm proud of their effort and their four 7-0 victories in the fall so far."
AU started off strong, earning their fifth doubles point in as many matches. Senior Valentina Borda and junior Alexandria Braithwaite outmatched their opponents at No. 2 with a 6-3 victory, while freshmen Mara Opre and Ensley Collins won by an identical score. Once the point was clinched, the Trailblazers won the final match at No. 1.
In singles, AU quickly clinched the match with wins at the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots by sophomore Gigi Sompayrac, Collins, and sophomore Elena Ronconi. AU wasn't satisfied, however, and closed the match with victories at the top three spots, including a gritty third-set tiebreak win at No. 3 by Opre.
