HICKORY, N.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (4-3, 1-2 SAC) lost its third consecutive road match falling, 2-0, to South Atlantic Conference foe Lenoir-Rhyne (5-0-3, 3-0-1 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Moretz Sports Athletic Campus.
"We weren't our best collectively tonight," explained head coach
Sarah Jacobs."I was happy with the impact some of our substitutes made, and we finished the game strong."
Despite a valiant effort in goal by senior
Macy McDufford, the Bears offensive fire power proved too much for McDufford and AU's back line. Lenoir-Rhyne fired off 32 shots with 16 coming on goal. All six of AU's shots came in the second half with one coming on goal. McDufford finished the match with 14 saves.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored lone goals in both halves to claim the 2-0 victory over the Trojans. The Bears remain undefeated in both overall play and conference competition.
The Black and Gold host SAC opponent Catawba on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm at Spero Financial Field.
