ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University men's track and field team posted several great times on Friday (Apr. 7) in three meets: Flames Invitational (Cleveland, TN), Duke Invitational (Durham, N.C.), and the Newberry Hub City Invitational (Spartanburg, S.C.). Freshman Elliot Dotson headlined the results at the Duke Invitational by setting a new school record in the 5,000m with a time of 14:10.53. At the Newberry Hub-City Invitational, the Trojans placed second as a team with 64 points, featuring event wins from Daniel Similton and Ben Molitor.
"Elliot executed the plan perfectly as there was a pacer up front for the first 3k," said coach Kevin Eagle. "After the pacer dropped off, it was time to pick it up and go. It's Elliot's first 5k on the track, so obviously this is a great start for the young runner!"
"We had a great meet today in some rough weather," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "To have multiple personal bests in conditions like this is big going into the later part of the season."
