HICKORY, N.C.--Anderson's men and women's track and field teams both finished 5th on the leaderboard at the South Atlantic Conference Championships this week to wrap up the season.
The men's side brought home two school records, four podium finishes and 21 personal records, while the women also had two school records, along with six podium finishes and 11 PRs.
On the men's side, Trojan junior Lambdin Hardy (Commerce, Ga.) broke the school record, clearing the 4.65m bar to win his third-straight Outdoor SAC Championships Men's Pole Vault title. He was joined on the podium by Tyler Farris (Dacula, Ga.), who boasted a 4.45m PR mark to finish 3rd.
Farris also broke his decathlon record with another third-place finish, breaking five of his standing individual event records. He totaled 5904 points in the competition, coming from a 16.85s 110m hurdles race and a 1.71m high jump, along with PR marks in all three throwing events—12.38m SP, 32.63m DT and 39.41m JT.
On the track, Spain Vaughan earned himself a medal, finishing 2nd in the men's 10k with a time of 30:35. He then went on to earn more points for the Trojans in the men's 5k, finishing 6th at 15:03.
The men's 4x400m relay team comprised of senior Ben Molitor (Pelzer, S.C.), sophomore Cullen Ussery (Kershaw, S.C.) and freshmen Brayden Anderson (Yakima, Wash.) and Will Wright (Sumter, S.C.) broke the school record with a time of 3:18.07.
The women's pole vault competition was a complete Black and Gold sweep, as the Trojans claimed spots 1 through 4 on the leaderboard. Freshman Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) led the team with a 3.65m jump, followed by Rylie Jenkins (Loranger, La.) at 3.55m, Jorja Fox Easley, S.C.) at 3.30m and Kirsten Leonard (Hoover, Ala.) at 3.15m.
Lacey Boozer (Simpsonville, S.C.) broke her own school record in the women's 400m, running 54.97 to finish 3rd in the event. Emma Whitaker (Inman, S.C.) also broke a school record, boasting the fastest 800m prelim time at 2:12 to secure a spot in the finals, when she ran 2:17 to finish 7th overall.
Also earning hardware was sophomore Kennedy Roush (Greenville, S.C.) who finished 2nd in the women's 5k with a PR time of 17:22 and 3rd in the women's 10k with a 36:14 race.
The Trojans will look to improve their marks next weekend at Lee's Last Chance Meet, with hopes of securing spots at the NCAA National Championships at the end of the month.
