ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer graduate student Adrian Castillo (Alboraya, Spain) and women's volleyball senior Ava Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) have been named the first Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week for the 2026-27 season.
 
Each week, student-athletes are honored for his or her performance in competition, classroom or community, being named the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week.
 
Castillo led the men's soccer team to two wins last week over Coker and nonconference opponent Mount Olive. The Alboraya native scored the first goal in a tight 3-2 victory over the Cobras Sunday afternoon, tallying two points on the contest. Against Mount Olive on Wednesday, Castillo tallied two more points after scoring the second goal in the 4-0 clean sheet victory for the Trojans.
 
Reeves had an explosive start to the 2026 campaign and led the women's volleyball program to two South Atlantic Conference victories last week against Lincoln Memorial and Carson Newman. On the week, she boasted 29 kills with 4.14 kills per set while also recording nine service aces, including 1.28 aces per set, for a .452 hitting percentage.
