Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.--Anderson Men's Tennis traveled to Tennessee on Thursday morning for the first of two South Atlantic Conference road contests this week and brought home a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Eagles.
AU claimed the doubles point with wins at Courts 1 and 2 from Trojan pairs Mathis Collignon (Les Pavillons Sous Bois, France)/Wynn Shioi (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Vicent Fenollar (Alicante, Spain)/Sky Thavornchaisophon (Bangkok, Thailand).
In singles play, Collignon won straight sets at Court 1 to add to the Trojans' score, while Carson-Newman picked up straight-set wins on Courts 2, 4 and 5. On Court 6, Thavornchaisophon dropped his opening set before winning the next two to even the score at 3-3.
The match came down to Court 3, where Shioi lost his first set, won his second and then saved five match points, rallying from being down 2-6 in Set 3 to win the tiebreak 7-6(8-6). Shioi's win secured the 4-3 victory for the Black and Gold.
AU now travels to Emory & Henry this Saturday (March 28). Opening serve is set for 11 AM.
