SUMTER, S.C. — Anderson defeated USC Sumter 6-1 on Friday. The Trojans swept all three doubles matches and won five of six singles courts.
AU earned the doubles point with victories at all three positions. Vincent Fenollar and S. Thavornchaisophon defeated Matthew Keusling and Eytan Miessen 8-5 at No. 1 doubles,
Mihailo Nikic and
Alex Lozano beat Gianluca Gennone and Hugo Sjostrand 8-4 at No. 2, and
Wynn Shioi and
Luke Skillman won 8-0 over Andrew Griffith and Aidan Clarke at No. 3.
The Black and Gold carried the 1-0 lead into singles and added wins on five of the six courts. Fenollar defeated Eytan Miessen 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Nikic beat Matthew Keusling 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and Shioi outlasted Gianluca Gennone 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(0) at No. 3.
Thavornchaisophon added a 6-1, 6-0 win over J. Gimenz at No. 4 singles, and Lozano defeated Andrew Griffith 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6. USC Sumter's point came at No. 5, where Hugo Sjostrand defeated
Dandapoojith Reddy 6-4, 7-6(0), as AU finished with a 6-1 dual victory.
