ANDERSON, S.C.--Anderson Men's Tennis (2-2, 0-1) hosted Lenoir-Rhyne (2-0, 1-0) on Wednesday morning to kickoff South Atlantic Conference play and despite the Trojans rallying to force three third sets in singles play, the Bears ultimately outlasted AU for a 4-2 victory. 

The visitors took the doubles point, winning Courts 2 and 3 by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 respectively. Wynn Shioi (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Mathis Collignon (Les Pavillons Sous Bois, France) were up 5-4 on Court 1, but their match was left unfinished. 

In singles play, the Trojans clinched the first point as Shioi downed his LR opponent in straight sets on Court 3 to level the score at 1-1. Collignon also took straight sets on Court 2 to give the Trojans a 2-1 advantage, before a Lenoir-Rhyne victory on Court 4 saw the game even again at 2-2. 

The match came down to Courts 1, 5 and 6—all three of which were forced to three sets. Spencer Dorosheff (High Springs, Fla.) won his first set before dropping the second, while Vicent Fenollar (Alicante, Spain) and Stanley Long (Auckland, New Zealand) rallied back from dropping their opening sets to force their courts to three. 

Though momentum was back and forth in who it favored, the Bears ultimately bested the Trojans on Courts 5 and 6 to earn the 4-2 win. 

AU is back at home for more conference play this Saturday (Feb. 28). They will host Lincoln Memorial at 11 AM.
