ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson men's tennis (11-6, 3-4 SAC) suffered a tight 4-3 loss at the hands of Limestone (6-4, 5-3 SAC) on Tuesday afternoon at the Trojan Tennis Complex. AU captured the doubles point to begin the match, but four singles wins by the Saints were enough to edge out the Trojans.

In what was a back-and-forth doubles point, AU prevailed. Limestone struck first with a 6-3 win at No. 1, but the Trojans fought back. Patrick Cronin and Vicent Mico held serve to complete a 6-4 win on court 3, then Mathis Collignon and Sky Thavornchaisophon finished a 6-4 win of their own just seconds later.

Heading into singles, AU continued the momentum. Thavornchaisophon rolled to a quick 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4, making the lead 2-0. Limestone answered back with a trio of wins at No. 1, 5, and 2.

Mico worked through long rallies to dispatch his opponent at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-2 score, tying up the match at 3 points apiece. Limestone was victorious in the final match at No. 6, clinching the dual.

UP NEXT

AU hits the road for a match with UVA-Wise (10-7, 2-4 SAC) on Saturday, March 29. The Trojans and Cavaliers will do battle following the completion of the women's match, which is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Last season, AU defeated UVA-Wise by a 5-2 score in Anderson.
