HICKORY, N.C. – Anderson men's tennis (7-3, 0-1 SAC) dropped the first match of their SAC schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (3-0, 1-0 SAC) by a 4-0 final score.

AU captured a doubles victory at the No. 2 spot, but the Bears bounced back to win the other two courts. Junior Mathis Collignon and sophomore Sky Thavornchaisophon finished off a 6-3 win that was sandwiched between a pair of Lenoir-Rhyne wins.

In singles, the Trojans battled hard, but were unable to notch a point. AU won four first sets, but the Bears responded with wins at the No. 2, 4 and 6 spots to finish the match.

Though the Black and Gold did not earn a point, they were competitive up and down the lineup. Colligon held a match point prior to splitting sets, while sophomores Vicent Mico and Poojith Reddy were mired in tight third sets when the match was decided.

UP NEXT

AU returns home for a Wednesday afternoon match against Coker in Anderson. The Trojans and Cobras will tangle at the Trojan Tennis Complex at approximately 1:30 p.m., following the completion of the women's match. Coker defeated the Trojans 5-2 in Gaffney, S.C. last season.
