COLUMBIA, S.C. – Anderson men's tennis (7-1) opened their spring season in dominant fashion, shutting out the Columbia Cougars (1-0) with a commanding 7-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Koala Tennis Courts.
The Trojans started strong in doubles play, winning all three matches to take a 1-0 lead. Senior Patrick Cronin and sophomore Poojith Reddy started things with a 6-0 shutout at No. 3. Junior Mathis Collignon and sophomore Sky Thavornchaisophon secured the point with a 6-1 win at No. 2. Sophomore Wynn Shioi and freshman Jackson Lucas teamed up for a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 spot.
The Black and Gold continued their dominance in singles, sweeping all six matches. Collignon and Reddy highlighted the sweep, winning their respective matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
