Trojans Roll Past Southern Wesleyan for Second Straight Win

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Anderson baseball team erupted for a dozen runs in a 12-3 romp past Southern Wesleyan in nonconference action, Tuesday night at Dr. C. Keith Connor Field.

Anderson (19-21) swept the season series with Southern Wesleyan, while handing the Warriors their ninth straight loss. SWU fell to 12-26 on the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Grad student Jordan Montgomery was 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of singles and drove in three runs, while scoring once. Freshman Mac Ketchin added a triple, a three-RBI double and a walk in five trips to the plate, while Kevin Sosa was 2-for-4, with a pair of singles. The third baseman crossed the plate once and drove in a pair of runs. Catcher Anthony Pandolfi posted a second-inning single and belted his first home run of the season in the fourth inning.

Shortstop Kye Andress was 1-for-2, with a single and also reached base on a pair of walks and an error, while scoring twice and driving in two runs. Carlos Hernandez posted a pair of singles and scored both times, while JC LeGrand also notched two singles and a walk. Senior Justin Fox scored twice and Luke Poole crossed the plate three times after notching his first triple of the season and reaching on an error and a walk.

Nathan Sanders drew the start on the mound for the Trojans and allowed two runs on two hits, while striking out two Warriors and walking one. Jonathan Duffie (1-1) earned the win with 2/3 innings of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Anderson scored in three of the first four innings to claim a 4-0 lead before the Warriors sliced AU's lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

But the Trojans answered with two runs in the fifth and a solo run in the sixth to build a 7-2 advantage and put the game out of reach with a five-run eighth inning.
