Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – After being held without a hit through the first three innings, the Anderson baseball team sent 10 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning en route to defeating Limestone, 7-3, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
Anderson stayed perfect on the young season by improving to 5-0, while Limestone fell to 0-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Third baseman Brayden Owens notched two of the Trojans' eight hits with a pair of singles on the day, while Justin Fox added a walk and an RBI-double in the eighth inning.
PITCHERS
Left-hander Andrew Imperatore (1-0) drew the start and earned the win after allowing two runs on two hits in five innings of work. He fanned eight batters and walked just two. Nathan Ledford, Jonathan Duffie and Jackson Herring combined to hold the Saints to just one run on one hit over the final four frames.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Limestone grabbed an early 2-0 lead with solo runs in the first and second innings, but the Trojan offense erupted for the six runs after loading the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth and six batters coming to the plate before the Saints recorded an out.
After getting the four-run lead, Trojan hurlers issued six walks and hit three batters over the final five innings, but surrendered only one hit and one run, with just two Limestone runners getting past second base.
The Trojans added a solo run with two outs in the eighth inning when Owns beat out an infield single and scored on Fox's double down the left-field line.
