HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1

Carson-Newman countered by scoring a pair of runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to build a 10-4 cushion, with AU cutting the deficit to five with another run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Eagles posted another two-run inning in the seventh frame, while Lindsey's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the inning pulled the Trojans within 12-8. After a scoreless eighth inning – the only one of the game – AU held the Eagles without a run in the ninth and scored twice in its' final at-b at to set the final score.

Game 2

Carpenter was hit by a pitch with one out in the fourth and Castleberry put the Trojans ahead to stay with his two-run homer.

The Eagles capitalized on three consecutive singles to lead off the top of the fifth inning and pulled within 3-2, but Todd and Carpenter combined to shut down the Carson-Newman offense over the final two frames.
