HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, the Trojans sent 11 batters to the plate and capitalized on six hits, including five for extra bases, and a pair of walks to erupt for seven runs in the second frame. Miller sliced a two-run single through the right side with two outs and Carpenter followed with his three-run homer that gave AU an early 7-0 advantage.

But the Lions chipped away with a run in the fourth inning and scored three times in the fifth to trim the Trojans lead to three. Emmanuel added solo runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to creep back within 7-6, before the Trojans nearly batted around again in the bottom of the eighth and added three insurance runs.
