JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The Anderson University men's tennis team did not let the early doubles set-back stop them from defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent, 6-3, for the seventh straight time on Sunday afternoon at the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex.

With their sixth straight victory, the Trojans move to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in SAC play while Carson-Newman falls to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

In the doubles portion, Anderson's lone win came at the No. 1 position with Nicolas Ascarrunz and Jeffrey Dayton (AU) defeating Stefano Daza and Rodolpho Schwarz (C-N), 8-5. Carson-Newman picked up two wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots to claim the early 2-1 advantage.

In singles action, Ascarrunz (No. 2) and Juan Carracedo (No. 3) decisively won giving the Trojans a 3-2 lead. Ignacio Bidegain (No. 1) had a slow start in the first set, but recovered to quickly earn the fourth point of the day for the Black and Gold. Playing at the No. 6 slot, freshman Preston Morpeth defeated Kevin Mendes, 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the match for Anderson. Freshman Jeffrey Dayton rallied at the No. 4 spot to defeat Stefano Danza, 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 to set the final score, 6-3.

The Trojans return home to host SAC foe Wingate on Wednesday. First server is slated for 2 p.m. at the AU Tennis Complex.
