Barrett, an infielder from Travelers Rest, S.C., was 4-for-5 in the
opener with a two-run homer in the third inning, while adding three
singles and scoring three runs. Sophomore Tyler Miller drove in
four runs with a three-run double and a bases-loaded walk, with
senior Kyle Bailey crossing the plate three times and senior Steven
Cooper adding a two-run double in the eighth inning.
Junior Ryan Owens (1-3) took the loss after surrendering seven
earned runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. The
right-hander struck out five Railsplitters and walked one.
Highlighted by Miller's three-run double in the second inning,
the Trojans led 4-3 after two innings and pushed the lead to 6-3 on
Barrett's home run in the top of the third frame, but the Lincoln
Memorial offense countered with 13 unanswered runs over the next
four innings to build a double-digit, 16-6, advantage after six
innings.
AU sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the eighth inning
and plated six runs to set the final score.
Game #2
Lincoln Memorial 14, Anderson 9
Cooper was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the nightcap,
while Bailey added a two-run double and scored twice. Sophomore
Zach McIlroy was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored
twice.
Sophomore Nick Contafio suffered a loss in his first decision of
the season after allowing 10 runs (six earned) in 2 2/3 innings of

The Railsplitters scored a solo run in the first inning and
added four more in the second frame before AU capitalized on a pair
of LMU errors to plate a pair of runs in the top of the third
inning to close the gap to 5-2. But the Railsplitters garnered a
12-2 lead after posting seven runs in the bottom of the third
inning.
The Trojans answered with a pair of runs in the top of the
fourth inning on McIlroy's first home run of the season, but LMU
got the two runs back in the bottom of the inning to build a 14-4
lead. AU again scored late, sending 11 batters to the plate in the
top of the final inning and scoring five runs to get within
five.
