ANDERSON, S.C. - Despite cold, blustery conditions, the Anderson
men's tennis team won its second straight South Atlantic Conference
match in a row, 8-1, against Brevard Thursday evening at the AU
Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Trojans improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in
the SAC while Brevard falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference
play.
Anderson quickly gained a 5-0 advantage with the help of a
walkover in the doubles portion and in singles play. At No.1
doubles, Mateo Rivas and Aljaz Cajzek earned an 8-6 defeat over
David Taggart and Tom Mittring. Tandem Paul Michael Calhoun and
Inaki Iriberri made quick work of Tim Hengst and Chris Plasa
defeating the Brevard duo, 8-1, at the No. 2 spot.
The Black and Gold rolled in the singles portion with only
Cajzek losing a tough battle, (7-6, 6-3) at the No. 1 postion.
Seniors Inaki Iriberri and Rivas improve to 4-1 while junior Juan
Carracedo is 3-1 on the young season as he works his way back to
full strength.
Anderson begins a two match road swing they play SAC opponents
Catawba on Saturday and Queens on Sunday. Both matches are slated
to begin at 1 p.m.
