FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - After a perfect doubles round, Anderson
University men's tennis continued its winning ways in the singles
portion as it captured a 9-0 shutout over Conference Carolinas
opponent Emmanuel Tuesday afternoon in Franklin Springs.
With the victory, the Trojans claimed their fifth win in their
last six matches and improve to 12-3 on the season, while the Lions
drop to 1-13 overall.
In doubles, the sophomore pair of Juan Carracedo and Mateo Rivas
(No. 1 doubles) knocked off Lucas Pereira and David Forehand, 8-1,
while Nicolas Ascarrunz and Harrison Kansol claimed an 8-3 triumph
over Louis Malejka and Ben Strickland at the No. 2 slot. Rounding
out the portion was Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki Iriberry
cruising to an 8-1 victory over Joaquin Marshall and Tyler Terrell
at No. 3.
The wins continued to add up in the singles round, as Carracedo
notched a win by retirement at the No. 1 slot, while Rivas followed
with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Malejka at No. 2. At No. 3, Calhoun
blanked Marshall with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Iriberry defeated
Forehand 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Senior Alex Wallace notched a 6-1, 6-4
win over Strickland at the No. 5 slot, while freshman Grant Patton
posted his first collegiate triumph over Austin Spivey at the No. 6
position.
Anderson rounds out its South Atlantic Conference slate on
Wednesday when it hosts Lenoir-Rhyne. First serve is set for 3
p.m.
