TIGERVILLE, S.C. - With 10 hits, including three from lead-off hitter Tyler Miller, Anderson University baseball snapped a four-game setback streak with a 6-2 victory over in-state rival North Greenville in nonconference action Thursday afternoon at Ashmore Field.

With the win, the Trojans improve to above .500 with a 15-14 overall record and claim their second win over the Crusaders (16-16) this season and third straight in the all-time series. NGU has now dropped two of its last three, as it returns to Conference Carolinas action this weekend.

Miller finished the afternoon with AU's lone multi-hit game with a 3-for-5 performance with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. Teammates Garrett Bernardo and Steven Cooper added a pair of RBI apiece, while second baseman Xavier Peralta drove in a run on a 1-for-3 afternoon.

The Trojans started quickly as Miller laced a double into right field and later scored two batters later on a Cooper two-run home run to give Anderson an early 2-0 lead. For Cooper, the blast was his fourth of the season, as he moves into a tied with teammate Brett Cash with a team-high 25 RBI on the season.

Anderson added to its lead in the top of the fourth when Peralta scored catcher Travis Smith on a single to center field for the sophomore's second RBI on the season in his fourth start. Later in the inning, Miller drove in Nick Bernardo with a single to left field to increase the visitors' lead to 4-0.

After NGU cut its deficit with a run in the fourth and in the sixth, the Black and Gold put the game out of reach when they plated two unearned runs off two Crusader errors. Right-hander reliever, Michael Skelly, closed the door on North Greenville by pitching scoreless eighth and ninth innings by not allowing a hit and striking out one.

Prior to Skelly, freshman right-hander John McMicking tossed four innings and allowed just one earned run. McMicking came in relief after left-hander Nick Contafio, who earned the victory following the pre-determined three innings, made his second start of the season and struck out four NGU hitters while allowing just one hit.

Eight of the nine AU hitters in the starting lineup tallied a hit, as Smith joined Miller and Cooper with extra-base hits, notching a fifth-inning double.

North Greenville was led by leftfielder Jae Roberts and third baseman Foley George with two hits apiece, as the tandem totaled four of the five Crusader hits on the day.
