    CLEMSON, S.C. - Unable to find any wins, Anderson University
men's tennis suffered a 5-0 setback in its regular-season opener to
Division I power and nationally-ranked Clemson on Sunday afternoon
at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Courts.
Playing by Division I rules, the Tigers began the match earning
the doubles point when CU's Alejandro Augusto and Fernando Sala
clinched the deciding match over Anderson's tandem of Juan
Carracedo and Mateo Rivas 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.
In singles action, the Trojans were unable to keep up with
Clemson as Sala earned the home side's first singles point of the
afternoon with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Rivas at the No. 2 position.
CU's Zachary Kennedy continued the winning streak with a 6-2, 6-4
win over sophomore Inaki Iriberry at the No. 5 slot, while Austin
Ansari earned a 6-1, 6-3 win against Carracedo at the No. 1
spot.
Rounding out singles action, Brent Lett clinched the final Tiger
victory, defeating sophomore Tomas Passalacqua 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
The singles matches featuring Paul Michael Calhoun (No. 3) and
Danilo Faria (No. 6) went unfinished.
Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it opens its home
schedule against South Atlantic Conference foe Newberry. First
serve from the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts is set for 2 p.m.
