FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.--The Trojans (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling 6-1 to the Lions of Emmanuel (2-0) on the road.
The doubles point went in favor of the host team. Though Trojan duo Mathis Collignon and Sky Thavornchaisophon forced their Lion opponents to a tiebreak, Emmanuel picked up the Court 2 win to sweep doubles play.
Singles competition began with Courts 2, 4 and 6 in action. Playing at the No. 4 position, Thavornchaisophon took his Emmanuel opponent to back-to-back sets to seven, dropping the first one 5-7 before rallying to win the second 7-5. Ultimately, though, EU claimed the third set by a score of 6-4 to earn a point for the Lions.
On Court 2, after dropping his opening set, Collignon forced his opponent to a second-set tiebreak, but was also unable to find the win, falling 7(8)8-6(6).
Playing the No. 3, Wynn Shioi bounced back from a 4-6 first set to win Set 2 by a score of 6-4, though the tiebreak again went in favor of Emmanuel.
