Baseball to Face Lander at Greenville Drive's Fluor Field

Box Score

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head baseball coach Joe Miller has announced that the Lander game scheduled to be played on Tuesday, April 9, will be played at Fluor Field, home of the Greenville Drive.

The Drive is the Class A minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox and a member of the South Atlantic League and plays its home games at Fluor Field in the heart of downtown Greenville. The stadium, which seats 5,700 fans, opened on April 6, 2006 and was named "Ballpark of the Year" for the 2006 season by Baseballparks.com, beating out such stadiums as St. Louis's Busch Stadium and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College, Pa. The stadium shares the dimensions of Fenway Park, and boasts its own "Green Monster" complete with manual scoreboard.

First pitch versus the Bearcats is slated for 7 p.m. in Greenville.

This is the second consecutive season the Trojans and Bearcats have squared off at Fluor Field, with then nationally ninth-ranked Lander recording three home runs to power to a four-run lead, then holding off a late Trojan rally for a narrow, 6-5, win past Anderson last March.

The Trojans are coming off a three-game sweep of South Atlantic Conference-opponent Mars Hill and following a pair of mid-week nonconference contests, AU plays host to league-leading Wingate on Friday and Saturday.
