ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson senior Brett Scarberry has been named
the South Atlantic Conference baseball Player of the Week, as
announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Scarberry posted four multi-hit games last week to help lead the
Trojans to a 3-2 road record, hitting .667 (10-of-15) on the week.
He notched a .933 slugging percentage as Anderson defeated Southern
Wesleyan, 4-3, on Tuesday then knocked off No. 20 Limestone 6-3, on
Wednesday before defeating Coker College, 11-2, on Friday.
The 5-foot-8 catcher started four of the five games behind the
dish, garnering 10 hits in 15 at-bats, with three going for extra
bases. He posted three hits at SWU, two versus the Saints and
finished with three hits on Sunday at Coker, while scoring five
runs on the week.
He ripped two doubles and a triple, while recording three RBI on
the week. The Sunrise, Fla., native is riding a six-game hitting
streak and leads AU on the season in slugging percentage (.826),
batting average (.609), on-base percentage (.625), hits (14), runs
(6) and total bases (19).
Anderson opens South Atlantic Conference play by hosting
Carson-Newman in a three-game series this weekend, with first-pitch
on Friday slated for 6 p.m.
