Women's Lacrosse Adds Audrey Smith as Assistant Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's lacrosse head coach Nicole Voci has announced the hiring of Audrey Smith as Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach.

Smith joins the Trojans after an accomplished collegiate playing career at Furman University, where she recently completed her Master of Science in Innovation & Leadership after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a Media concentration.

A four-year member of the Furman women's lacrosse program, Smith was a two-year team captain and emerged as one of the program's most respected leaders. Her leadership was recognized during the 2025-26 academic year when she received the Dan C. Joyner Award for Outstanding Female Leader, presented annually to a student-athlete who exemplifies excellence in leadership, service and character.

In addition to her playing career, Smith has built an impressive coaching résumé with the Tempest Lacrosse Program. She served as an assistant coach before being elevated to head coach, where she designed practice plans, directed technical and tactical instruction, coordinated athlete development, managed staff communication, and built strong relationships with parents throughout the recruiting process.

Smith has also remained actively involved in student-athlete leadership initiatives. As Chair of Media for Furman's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), she helped promote student-athlete engagement while serving as a voice for her peers. Most recently, she worked as an Athletics Department Intern at Furman, assisting with strategic planning for SAAC, researching student-athlete development initiatives, and working alongside athletics administrators on department-wide projects.

Along with her coaching background, Smith brings extensive experience in athletic communications and social media. She served as Sports Director for the Furman University News Channel, leading sports coverage and multimedia production, and as Media Director for the Tempest Lacrosse Program, where she managed branding and social media efforts that increased digital engagement by more than 1,000 percent.

Smith has also been actively involved in several leadership and service organizations throughout her collegiate career, including Morgan's Message, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Furman's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
