ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans came back from a 17-point deficit in the second quarter to earn an 84-76 win over Carson-Newman (16-6, 12-4 SAC) on Saturday afternoon in the annual Play4Kay game. Anderson moves to 11-11 overall and 7-9 in the SAC with the win.
"Really proud of how hard we fought to come back after getting down and to complete the process by securing the win," head coach
Jonathon Barbaree said. "We've had several games this year where we've worked that hard, but we didn't finish the deal. Today, we were able to execute down the stretch and get a big win for the program against a well-coached team. Also was an amazing day and we had a chance to celebrate a lot and raise a lot of money for the Play4Kay game."
The Trojans held the lead for just six minutes but that was all it took to come away with the win. The Trojan offense struggled to get moving early, shooting 20 percent in the first quarter before rallying to a 43.3 shooting percentage for the game. They went 23-26 from the line. Anderson won the boards 45-37.
