HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Trojans couldn't top the nationally-ranked No. 14 Coker Cobras (19-4, 14-3 SAC) on Wednesday night in a tight battle that saw Anderson ahead by two at halftime. The Trojans move to 11-12 overall and 7-10 in the South Atlantic Conference.
"Loved how hard we fought on the road," head coach
Jonathon Barbaree said. "Disappointed in the outcome for sure but we played hard."
The Trojans didn't let the Cobras take it easily as the game saw 11 lead changes and nine ties. Anderson's biggest lead of five came in the second quarter while Coker went up by as many as eight to close out. The Cobras had their best ten minutes of the game in the final quarter, winning it 22-16.
The team shot 43.1 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from deep, their second-best shooting percentage from three this season. They were 11-15 at the line.Â
Anderson was led by junior
Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) with 16 points and six rebounds. She shot 7-12 from the field and added two blocks.
Graduate student
Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) was just behind her with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Sophomore
Jaida Brooks (Phoenix, Ariz.) add 12 points and six rebounds with two assists and two steals. She shot 4-9 from the field.Â
Freshman
Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) was the last Trojan in double digits with 10 points.
The Trojans contine their road stretch at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.
