ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (7-3) clinched a pair of wins and an early finish against nonconference opponent Augusta (2-6), 5-4 and 9-1. on Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans wasted no time at the start of the first game in the doubleheader, plating four runs in the opening frame. Senior
Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) doubled to center field for two RBI before junior
Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) turned in her third home run of the season for two more runs added to the Trojans tally. The Jaguars found a rhythm, delivering four runs before the bottom of the seventh to even the score just before Barrick blasted a walk-off home run to seal the victory for Anderson.
Barrick went 4-for-4 with three RBI and two homers to lead the Black and Gold. Hobbs added two RBI and went 1-for-3 at bat. Senior
Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) (3-1) pitched all seven innings to post her third victory on the mound, tallying six strikeouts and recording a 4.0 ERA with four earned runs.
In game two, freshman
Bella Harbour (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) cleared the fence for a 3-run homer before sophomore
Laney Price (Flowery Branch, Ga.) drilled two more home runs to tally four RBI. The Jaguars recorded a single RBI at the top of the fourth before Anderson closed the game 9-1 at the end of the fifth.
Pitcher
Carson Hobbs (1) notched her first victory on the mound, pitching all five innings, recording a 1.40 ERA after tallying six strikeouts and only allowing one run on the game.
"We brought the power with multiple home runs, stayed aggressive at the plate, and our pitching staff stepped up big against a tough Augusta state lineup." added Roberts. "Total team effort – I'm so proud of this group."
The Black and Gold remain home on Wednesday Feb. 18 when they host nonconference opponent Converse in a doubleheader. The games are stated for noon and 2 p.m. at the Anderson Softball Complex.
