TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (1-3) fell to nonconference opponent North Greenville University (2-0) in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
In the first game of the series, Anderson came out strong with a double to right center by Junior
Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) for freshman
Kara Davis (Duncan, S.C.) to score the first run of the game. The Trailblazers responded with two RBI before sophomore
Chaney Crosby (Six Mile, S.C.) notched a double down the left field line for freshman
Jolie Davis (Anderson, S.C.) to score. The Black and Gold lost their momentum, giving up five runs the bottom of the third and one in the fifth.
NGU entered the second half with three back-to-back runs in the bottom of the first before recording two more RBI in the bottom of the fourth. Anderson found their rhythm at the top of the eighth while trying to close the gap. Freshman
Bella Harbour (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) scored off of a walk by senior
Shelby Bandt (Ft. Valley, Ga.), followed by senior
Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) with a single to left field for another RBI. Late in the bottom of the seventh, senior
Kinsley Dunn (Central, S.C.) scored on a wild pitch before Anderson loaded the bases for one final attempt to even the scoring. The Trojans were unsuccessful in their attempt, and the Trailblazers took the sweep.
Hobbs led the Trojans in the final game with two RBI off a single hit to left field. On the mound, freshman
Kora Kilgore (Smithville, Tenn.) pitched 2.1 innings in just the second game of her collegiate career, tallying five strikeouts with only one hit and no walks to steady the game.

The Black and Gold host nonconference opponent Clark Atlanta for their home opener doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 7. The games are slated for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
