ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University softball head coach Kelly Roberts has announced the hiring of Katie Morris as an assistant softball coach.
"I am so excited for Katie to be joining this coaching staff," Roberts said. "Katie was a tremendous leader for Anderson Softball throughout her three years with the program. Her experience and understanding of what it takes to compete and win in big games will be invaluable to our program. Katie has experienced a great deal of success throughout her career, and I believe she will be able to draw from that experience to develop our young pitching staff, build their confidence, and prepare them to compete at a high level in every game. We are excited about the knowledge, leadership, and experience she will bring to our program."
Morris spent three seasons at Anderson from 2024-26, compiling a 27-14 record with three saves and 244 strikeouts in 263.0 innings pitched. She played in 76 games during her Anderson career, including 64 pitching appearances with 47 starts in the circle.
In her senior season in 2026, Morris appeared in 33 games with 29 starts. She posted a .462 batting average with 18 hits, six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 14 RBI. In the circle, she pitched 83.1 innings and posted a 10-3 record with 79 strikeouts and a 3.44 ERA. In 2025, Morris pitched 158.0 innings and posted a 16-10 record with three saves, 140 strikeouts and a 2.57 ERA. Prior to Anderson, Morris spent her freshman season at the University of West Georgia in 2023, where she pitched 143.1 innings and recorded 123 strikeouts.
Morris graduated from Anderson in May 2026 with a degree in communications and a minor in sports management and now joins the Trojan coaching staff following her senior season.
Morris has also gained coaching experience beyond her collegiate playing career. She served as an assistant coach and pitching coach for a travel softball team with the Easton Organization. She has also worked as a pitching instructor with Driven and PT Tim Drew for approximately two and a half years, working with athletes of all ages to develop safe and repeatable pitching foundations while emphasizing health, control, and mental focus.
During her collegiate career, Morris was also involved in student-athlete leadership. She served as a representative for the softball team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a student-run organization that advocates for student-athlete welfare and provides student-athletes with a voice in athletics and campus leadership.
Morris was also involved with the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), serving as historian for two years. In that role, she recorded meeting information and helped organize events and guest speakers for the student body.
