Trojans Suffer Heartbreaking Loss to No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne in NCAA Regionals Opening Round

FLORENCE, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (38-14) dropped game one of the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship Tournament on Thursday to No. 15 (3-seed) Lenoir-Rhyne in a heartbreaking 1-2 loss.

The Trojans came to fight, holding the Bears scoreless for three innings before LR scored to take a 2-0 lead. Determined to come back, Anderson responded with strong defense, capping the Bear's runs at two while senior Jenna Davis (Anderson, S.C.) scored the Trojan's lone run in the top of the 6th.

Freshman Bella Harbour (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 at bat while sophomore Chloe Maness (Belton, S.C.) led Anderson with a single RBI after going 1-for-2 at the plate. In the circle, senior Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) pitched all six innings, allowing only two runs on the day.

The Black and Gold will play fellow South Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman in game two on Friday, May 15. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
