WINGATE, N.C. -- The Trojans fell in a battle with Wingate University (13-6, 8-5 SAC) by a one-point margin of 69-68, despite putting up their best shooting performance of the season, shooting 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from deep. Anderson moves to 8-11 overall and 4-9 in the South Atlantic Conference with the loss.

The Trojans gained a 12-11 lead halfway through the first quarter and held it through halftime. They won the second quarter 20-14 to gain a ten-point lead going into the locker room, 39-29.
They were up by as much as 15 points before Wingate went on an 11-2 run in the last two minutes of the third quarter to get within five points heading into the final ten minutes.
The Trojans held their lead until the five-minute mark when Wingate took a 61-59 lead. They held the Trojans off, going up by as many as five and Anderson was unable to close the gap all the way. Junior
Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) scored the final layup with 30 seconds to play.
The Trojans were 26-52 from the field and 10-20 from three, their second-highest total of made three-pointers this season. They went 6-11 at the line. Wingate had the edge on the boards with 34 to Anderson's 29.
Graduate student
Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) led the Trojans with 16 points on 6-14 shooting. She added three rebounds and four steals.
Cain dropped 15 points on 6-10 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Freshman
Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) came up with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals
Senior
Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) was the last Trojan in double digits with 11 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Sophomore
Jaida Brooks (Phoenix, Ariz.) had seven points and a team-high seven assists.
The Trojans will look to bounce back this Saturday, Jan. 31 when they head to Mars Hill for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
