Emma Whitaker (Inman, S.C.) has been named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore
Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) earned the title of Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 19.
The Trojans recently competed at the Orange and Purple Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Thursday, Jan. 22 and Friday, Jan 23. The Black & Gold competed amongst top NCAA Division I programs across the region.
Whitaker recorded a personal best time in the women's 800m with a time of 2:14.85 for an 11th place finish out of 22 on the track. Her performance at Clemson places her first in the conference for the women's 800m.
Marshall leads the SAC in women's pole vault after clearing the 3.49m bar at the Orange and Purple Invitational.
The Black & Gold have a short break before competing in the Camel City Sprints/Camel City Distance meet at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. on Feb. 6-7.
