CLEMSON, S.C. - Anderson University Women's Track and Field team notched five personal records among top NCAA Division I programs in the region at the Orange & Purple Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Thursday and Friday.
Anderson competed among top Division II programs in the region including Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, South Carolina, Kennesaw State, Georgia Tech, Troy, Queens (N.C.) Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina.
On the track, sophomore
Hope Edmunds (Sandy, Utah) and sophomore
Natalie States (Greensboro, N.C.) recorded personal bests in the women's mile with times of 5:15.31 and 5:17.71 to finish 27th and 30th respectively out of 39 runners.
In the women's 800m senior
Emma Whitaker (Inman, S.C.) notched a personal record, crossing the line 11th in a field of 22 for a time of 2:14.85. Sophomore Collette Dismukes (York, S.C.) posted a time of 26.53 in the women's 200 for a career-high performance.
Junior
Abby Kwasny (Winston Salem, S.C.) also raced a personal best in the pentathlon 60m hurdles for a time of 9.36 to finish eighth.
The Black and Gold remain together when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the Camel City Sprints/Camel City Distance at the JDL Fast Track on Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb 7.
