ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans earned an 88-66 win over Emory & Henry (4-14; 2-10 SAC) on Friday night, tying their highest-scoring game of the season and scoring a season-high 13 triples. Anderson moves to 8-10 overall and 4-8 in the South Atlantic Conference with the win.
"Thought we did a really good job today on a short turnaround," head coach
Jonathon Barbaree said. "A coach once told me that good shooting can make up for a multitude of sins. It definitely did today based on threes versus our turnovers. It was nice seeing those threes go in. I also thought we shared the ball well. When you can get 27 assists in a game, good things will happen."
The Trojans held the lead for the entire game, going up by as many as 24 to finish. They opened on a 26-16 tear through the first ten minutes. They had their lowest scoring quarter in the second, with the Wasps getting an 18-15 edge. Graduate student
Ciara Harris had 12 of the Trojans' 15 points in the second quarter and went into the locker room with 21 points.Â
Anderson won the second half 47-32 to cruise to a comfortable win.Â
As a team, the Trojans shot 44.6 percent, their third-best of the season and tying their season-best of 33 made field goals, while also putting up a season-best 13 triples, shooting 44.8 percent from deep. They were 9-11 at the line and had a season-high 27 assists. They forced 26 turnovers from the Wasps and had 22 points off of turnovers. The Trojans had an edge on the boards 43-39.
Harris had a big-time career-high of 31 points on 11-18 shooting. She made it a double-double tying her career-high of 12 rebounds with six assists and five steals. She tied her career-high of six made triples.
Sophomore
Jaida Brooks (Phoenix, Ariz.) came up with a career-high of her own with 18 points on 7-16 shooting and a career-high four triples. She dished out four assists with three rebounds and three steals in her first start of the season for the Trojans.
Freshman
Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) dropped 15 points with four rebounds and four assists.
Senior
Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Eight of her 11 points came in the final ten minutes.Â
Senior
Khiara Flugence (Boerne, Texas) came off the bench for eight points and three rebounds.Â
The Trojans are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 28 when they tip-off at Wingate University at 5:30 p.m. The Trojans suffered a 63-58 loss ot the Bulldogs earlier this season.Â
